Location: Milwaukee, WI
Duration: 18 Months


Design, research, select and implement software and hardware to support the UNIX environment. Must be able to install, upgrade, configure and tune the UNIX systems environment, including hardware, system software and program products. This position will require experience administrating in the following operating systems: IBM AIX and Redhat LINUX.

Qualifications:

· Candidate must have 5-8 years of experience in administrating UNIX operating systems

· Knowledge of scripting (PERL, ksh, bash, etc.)

· Must be a team player, have excellent interpersonal and communications skills.

· Demonstrated experience, knowledge and understanding of production environments.

· Display willingness to accept responsibility and be self-motivated



Primary Responsibilities:

· Work independently to design, select and manage a complex UNIX hardware and software environment

· Schedule and monitor hardware and software installations and upgrades

· Installation, maintenance and configuration of the UNIX operating system

· Installation, maintenance and configuration of network services (DNS, DHCP, SMTP, NTP, etc.)

· Operating system support for products/packages including Oracle, DB2 UDB, Apache, Websphere / WebLogic, Tivoli Storage Manage, ESP scheduling, Netcool monitoring

· Physical installation of UNIX hardware

· System and network security

· Develop knowledge of the business process in order to apply solutions and recommendations to production software

· Provide support for applications, operations and helpdesk personnel

· Provide after hours support as required

· Write programs, scripts and batch procedures as required to improve system functionality

· System backups and verification

· Troubleshoot software and hardware problems

the candidates will be well versed in both AIX and LINUX
