MYSQL DBA Resource position requirements
We are seeking DBA who will lead the database team responsible for supporting our current MySQL infrastructure and design. This will include database design and architecture for existing and new initiatives, database monitoring, tuning, and capacity planning for production systems.
* Working directly with developers on related database initiatives, and validating the scaling model and application performance
* Reviewing schema design and data definitions for production systems
* Evaluating and recommending database hardware and software
* Monitoring and performance tuning of production database systems
* Ensuring all maintenance, system integrity, capacity, scalability and space requirements are met
* Design a backup and recovery solution
Background:
* 5+ years experience with databases in a production environment
* Previous experience high transaction and 10+ database server environments
* Knowledge of various database replication and clustering methods
* Experience with horizontally scaling databases in a HA environment
* Solid understanding of major components in relational database architecture
* Experience in database backup, restore and disaster recovery procedures
* Experience with analyzing and tuning databases for performance and efficiency
* Skills in at least one of the following: Shell Scripting
* Expert troubleshooting skills and abilities
* Ability to effectively interface and communicate with engineering teams
Related experience and knowledge it would be nice to have:
* Experience with multiple database platforms like SYBASE, MSSQL or ORACLE
* Knowledge of and/or previous experience with Linux or UNIX
